About Me & The Therapy Process

I am a Counselling Psychologist in independent practice in Bryanston, Johannesburg. I offer psychotherapy, career counselling, support groups, and workshops on relevant focus areas for schools and businesses.

Diverse challenges are faced in life, whether this be on an individual level, in varied relationship contexts, workplace stress or societal pressures. I offer clients a space where these challenges can be dealt with in empowering ways – a process that can look different for each client given their unique experiences, needs and hopes. Psychologically therapeutic interventions are developed according to what each client brings to the therapy space.

I focus on the emotional and behavioural experiences in a client’s life, and collaborate with them to bring about their desired change, in order that they may live optimally. I believe that all clients are capable of navigating their own lives to a place of greater fulfillment and depth, and therapy can assist to bridge the gaps that can be tough to see on one’s own.

My Experience

I have been practicing since 2014, across multiple contexts. I have worked at the University of the Witwatersrand (WITS), where I was responsible for psychological counselling, career assessments and student community initiatives. I have additionally lectured Honours students at WITS.

I went on to practice at an addiction and mental health treatment centre, where I carried out individual and group therapy, family support groups, and psychoeducation for those impacted by addiction. I worked with multiple types of addiction, including substances, gaming, pornography, and gambling.

My time practicing in various school environments included individual therapy for students between grade 1 and grade 12 and staff members. I additionally conducted workshops on topics relevant to the lived experiences of adolescents.

I work in the hospital space to support individuals through various challenges, where it is imperative to support psychological health.

Concurrent to the above I have maintained private practice work, where I am privileged to work with people navigating their unique journeys.
